The conviction comes after the death of a 23-month-old boy at a home on Little Mack Avenue in 2022.

The boy’s mother, a neighbor of Hodges’, said she had picked her son up after work. Police said Hodges had been watching the child on and off for two months.

The boy was taken to the hospital and had emergency surgery for severe head trauma, but died from his injuries.

Hodges reportedly admitted during her arrest that she had abused the child.

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, Hodges was sentenced to 15 to 40 years for first-degree child abuse and was given a life sentence for felony murder.
