Michigan high school playoff game moved because of recent shooting -- fans are not happy

A Michigan high school football playoff game was moved because of a recent shooting, and many fans are angry about the decision.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association regional final football game between Harper Woods and Divine Child has been relocated to John Glenn High School in Westland following a shooting last week.

The decision comes after a 17-year-old was hit by a stray bullet following a football game at Harper Woods High School.

Detroit firefighter to be awarded for rescuing man trapped in burning home

The annual Above and Beyond Awards will be held Thursday night, honoring Detroit’s police, fire and emergency responders -- including a firefighter who ran into a burning home in search of the homeowner who had made the wrong decision and was trapped.

About seven months ago, Jim Davenport was rescued from his home in Palmer Woods by Sergeant Joe Easterling. But, both men remember those critical moments like it was yesterday.

Firefighter injured while battling flames at unoccupied home in Oakland County

A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling a house fire in Oakland County early Thursday morning.

Crews responded to the fire in the area of Northwestern Highway between Mapleridge and Philip in Southfield at around 5 a.m. on Nov. 13.

Weather: Warming trend continues through the week in Metro Detroit

The clear skies overnight allowed temperatures to slide, so even though it is a cooler morning, we will warm up to seasonal low 50s today thanks to sunshine. Winds slowly but steadily weaken through the day as high pressure gradually builds into the region.
