Metro Detroit couple facing charges for employing 100+ unauthorized workers in $74M business

A Wayne County couple is facing federal charges in connection with allegedly running a multimillion-dollar plumbing company that employed more than 100 workers who were illegally living in the U.S., officials announced.

Moises Orduna-Rios, 36, and Raquel Orduna-Rios, 30, of Plymouth, Michigan, were arrested and charged with “conspiracy, transporting and harboring unauthorized aliens for commercial advantage or private financial gain, conspiracy to bring in, harbor, and transport unauthorized aliens, employment of at least 10 unauthorized aliens within a 12-month period, engaging in a pattern or practice of employing unauthorized aliens, and money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering.”

Crash at dangerous intersection sends SUV into nearby Oakland County home

A car smashed into a home following a collision at the intersection of Hickory Ridge and Rose Center Roads on Wednesday morning.

It’s an intersection with a history of crashes and area homes and businesses have been demanding changes for years.

“We’re terrified for the people. We’re terrified for ourselves,” Lindsay Copeland, the manager of the Marathon Gas Station on the intersection, said Wednesday. “We just don’t want to see anybody get hurt.”

The Kent County woman won her big prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s Lady Luck 777 game, according to lottery officials.

Oakland County woman charged in construction zone crash that killed road worker

A 59-year-old woman from Farmington Hills has been charged in the crash that killed an Oakland County road worker in July.

The crash happened in a construction zone on Orchard Lake Road, between 10 Mile and 11 Mile roads, on July 23 at about 11 a.m.
