TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – A 51-year-old man has been arrested after he alleged an attempted abduction in Traverse City.
The incident occurred on Nov. 23 at approximately 8:30 a.m. when Grand Traverse Central Dispatch received a call for an attempted abduction at the Meijer gas station parking lot, located at 3965 US 31 in Garfield Township.

Police said the suspect fled the scene following the incident.
The Grand Traverse Central Dispatch issued a “Be on the Lookout” (BOL) alert for the suspect vehicle and its last known direction of travel.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) and deputies from the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Department (GTCSD) responded to the area and began canvassing for the suspect vehicle.
At approximately 10:05 a.m., a deputy reported locating the suspect vehicle south of town near Chums Corners.
A traffic stop was conducted, and a 51-year-old Benzie County man was taken into custody.
Officials said he was lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail.
This investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The suspect is identified as 51-year-old Scott Gensler of Interlochen.
Gensler was arraigned on Nov. 25 in the 86th District Court in Grand Traverse County on one count of Kidnapping.
He was required to post a $500,000 cash surety bond.
Gensler’s next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.
