VIRGINIA – A raccoon’s bold attempt to steal alcohol from a Virginia liquor store ended with a bathroom blackout.

According to The Associated Press, the break-in appeared to have occurred in the dead of night early Saturday, Nov. 29.

When employees arrived at the store, they were greeted by a chaotic scene: shattered bottles, a collapsed ceiling tile, and alcohol pooled across the floor.

Then they spotted the culprit -- a raccoon passed out on the bathroom floor, seemingly exhausted from its wild night.

Local animal control was called to safely remove the raccoon from the premises.

“After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer,” the agency said.
