A Newaygo County man won a $1 million prize after purchasing a ticket at a store that’s known for selling big winners, Michigan Lottery officials said.

The 29-year-old player, who decided to stay anonymous, won the prize when his Super Raffle number (049686) was selected as a $1 million winner in the drawing that took place on Nov. 19.

“I’d heard about the Michigan Lottery’s Super Raffle game and was pretty excited about it because of the odds,” the player told Michigan Lottery officials. “I was telling everyone I know about the game and that they should buy a ticket because it had the best odds ever to win $6 million and many other prizes.”

So, the 29-year-old decided to stop by Party World, located at 5568 Alpine Avenue Northwest in Comstock Park, to buy a ticket. This store is often referred to as the “luckiest store” in Michigan, and is located just north of Grand Rapids.

“I drove by Party World, which advertises as the luckiest store in Michigan, so I stopped in to buy a Super Raffle ticket,” the player said. “The day of the drawing, I got a call from my wife and thought something bad had happened because she was in tears, until she said: ‘You won $1 million on your Super Raffle ticket!’ I didn’t believe her, so she sent me a picture of the ticket, and I checked it myself.”

The player said his “heart started pounding” when he realized he actually won the big prize, and that he hopes to turn the “prize into generational wealth by investing” most of it.

“This lucky player was interested in the Super Raffle game because of the odds, and the odds were in his favor after he won a $1 million prize,” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “I also want to congratulate Party World, a Comstock Park retailer known as a lottery lucky spot, for selling the winning ticket and for continuing their 10+ year streak of selling huge lottery prizes.”

The player decided to claim his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000.

Michigan Lottery officials said that it’s impossible to know when a store might sell a big winner, but Party World has proven to be a lucky spot for Michiganders.

This store sold a $57 million winning Mega Millions ticket in 2008, and since then has sold tickets with 14 prizes of 10,000 or more. Four of those wins included prizes that were $100,000 or more.

Super Raffle is the annual draw game that features the richest payout of any raffle game the Michigan Lottery offers. Tickets for the Nov. 19, 2025, drawing were $50, and players had the chance to win a top prize of $6 million and two $1 million prizes, according to lottery officials.
