DETROIT – The holiday shopping season is just getting started, and shopping local really matters.
On Detroit’s Livernois Avenue of Fashion, neighborhood businesses are ready to welcome customers with unique gifts and treats.
Inside Good Cakes and Bakes, the aroma draws shoppers in.
Robert Ellis, front of the house manager, shared some favorites with Erika Erickson, including a peach cobbler cookie -- a best seller.
“When you break it open, it actually has the real peaches and everything inside,” Ellis said. “It’s actually one of our top-selling cookies. You warm it up, put some ice cream on it. Oh my god, it’ll take you to heaven.”
Nearby at The Mad Hatter, manager Darryl Taylor showed off new arrivals.
“We got some new Kangols. Back in the 80s and 90s, they’re coming back to style now.”
