Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) ground stop: Here’s what we know

Delta Air Lines flights at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) are grounded Friday morning. Here’s what we know so far.

A computer issue had lead to a ground stop for all Delta Air Lines flights.

We don’t have more specific information about the computer outage, but the server behind DTW’s systems says IT maintenance is underway.

Local 4 started receiving calls around 5 a.m. from people who were having problems at DTW.

The ground stop was originally in effect until 7 a.m. Friday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Detroit Lions defeat Cowboys on TNF behind strong defense, balanced offense to keep playoff push alive

The Detroit Lions took down the Dallas Cowboys 44-30 on Thursday Night Football to keep their playoff hopes alive.

In the game on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, Detroit improved to 8-5 on the season, led by its defense, which recorded two interceptions and five sacks, while Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, David Montgomery, and Jared Goff put on a show.

The Lions led 20-9 at the half, and they didn’t let up as they went on to outscore the Cowboys 24-21 in the second half to pull away with the double-digit victory.

Road worker killed in Oakland County: What witnesses said, crash report, police findings

A recently obtained police report of the deadly crash involving a Road Commission of Oakland County worker revealed initial crash findings and witness statements to police.

The crash happened in a construction zone on Orchard Lake Road, between 10 Mile and 11 Mile roads, on July 23 at about 11 a.m.

Police said a southbound SUV crossed over the median and struck three road workers who were conducting sewer repairs in the area.

Cedric Jones, a 43-year-old father of six, died at the scene. Two other road workers were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Heating outage at Oakland University disrupts finals, forces remote learning, housing reimbursements

A widespread heating outage affecting 21 buildings at Oakland University has disrupted end-of-semester activities and forced significant changes to finals week, prompting the university to reimburse students whose on-campus housing is being impacted.

The university originally cancelled classes the week of Thanksgiving to repair a high-temperature hot water pipe system. The discovery of a new leak during repairs has now left the majority of the campus without heat as students prepare for final exams.

We could have record-breaking weather Friday in Metro Detroit as dangerously cold temperatures invade.

Temperatures Friday morning are in the single digits, and some areas in Washtenaw and Lenawee counties have fallen below zero.

Any children waiting for the bus should plan to sit in your car before pickup, as temperatures could lead to frostbite if skin isn’t properly protected.

Wind chills will remain in the single digits and teens throughout the day.
