What happened

Police said a driver crashed into another car on Mulvey Road, which caused the first driver’s car to leave the road and strike a light pole.

The same car then went onto southbound Garfield Road, where it crashed into a SMART bus, according to police.

The car became entangled with the SMART bus and caught fire, Fraser police said.

Officers said they continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

1 killed, several injured

Fraser police went to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire, but they found the driver of the car had died, they said.

The driver of the SMART bus, as well as two passengers, were helped off the bus by bystanders. They were treated for minor injuries, but the driver was also taken to a nearby hospital, according to authorities.

When police learned about the initial collision on Mulvey Road, they spoke to the people from the other car that had been struck.

That car was damaged, and “several” occupants had minor injuries, police said. They did not require an ambulance.

“The Fraser DPS extends its condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident,” the release says. “We also thank our mutual aid partners, the Roseville Police Department, and the Roseville Fire Department for their assistance in managing this incident and for their treatment and transportation of the accident victims.”
