A man is dead after allegedly shooting themselves while driving on Detroit’s west side.

It happened at about 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29, near the intersection of Joy Road and Roselawn Street.

1 in custody after thieves ransack party store on Detroit’s east side

Police say one person is now in custody in connection with a smash-and-grab burglary at a convenience store on Detroit’s east side early Monday morning.

Police responded to Little Mike Express, located in the 12300 block of East McNichols Road, at about 5:30 a.m, Dec. 29, for a reported burglary.

Police in Southfield are emphasizing the dangers of unreported domestic violence after a deadly Christmas Day shooting.

It happened at the Riverstone Apartments on Shiawassee Road, near Eight Mile Road, at about 9:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 25.

Weather: Cold end to the year in Metro Detroit with more snow chances this week

Bundle up! It’s going to be a cold end to 2025. Not as gusty as yesterday, but still blustery both today and tomorrow. Flurries are blanketing the area early today with more widespread, accumulating snow chances later this evening and again on Wednesday. Most areas likely see an inch or two with each system. Highs will be in the upper 20s both days but with gusts remaining above 20 mph, it will feel as low as the single digits with wind chills.
