Sheetz opens 4th Metro Detroit location as expansion continues

Company plans dozens of Michigan locations in coming years

WARREN, Mich. – Sheetz, the East Coast convenience store chain, opened its fourth Metro Detroit location Tuesday, Dec. 30, in Warren, marking another milestone in its aggressive Michigan expansion.

The new store, located near Van Dyke and 14 Mile Road, joins existing locations in Romulus and Chesterfield.

The opening drew crowds of loyal customers, including self-proclaimed “Sheetz freaks.”

“I’ve been a longtime ‘Sheetz freak,’ as we like to call ourselves,” said Robert Pawlowski, who has attended nearly every Sheetz opening in Michigan. “It’s about the convenience. It’s about being able to walk up to a kiosk, whether you are at a drive-thru or inside. Order everything right on a screen and have it ready for you in two minutes.”

The Warren location’s approval came despite some initial concerns from the community. Rebecca Bunnell, a representative from Sheetz, emphasized the company’s commitment to the community.

“It’s such a great community. It’s one of the bigger cities in the Metro Detroit area, so we are excited to expand and be a part of this community,” Bunnell said. “We want to make sure we can connect with folks and understand where they are coming from and what we can do to be a part of that greater community.”

Rapid Michigan Expansion Plans

Since its founding as a family business in Pennsylvania in 1952, Sheetz has grown to over 700 locations across seven states. The company has set ambitious goals for its Michigan presence, planning to open up to 60 locations statewide over the next four years.

The Warren store opening represents the fourth location launched in Metro Detroit within just eight months, with several more sites currently under construction.
