The holidays may be over, but the holiday credit card debt is still hanging around.
LendingTree said the average holiday debt hit more than $1,200. Parents with kids under 18 took on even more, with nearly half borrowing to cover holiday costs, adding an average of $1,300 in debt.
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York reports Americans now carry a record of $1.2 trillion in credit card debt: The highest ever.
With the new year here, many are focusing on paying off that debt and avoiding the holiday hangover.
