Starting Monday, Jan. 12, at 9 a.m., eastbound traffic on 14 Mile Road will close between East Walled Lake Drive and Novi/Decker Road.

A second eastbound closure will begin Wednesday, Jan. 14, from Novi/Decker Road to M-5.

The project involves putting in nearly a mile of new 42-inch steel transmission main and replacing several sections of concrete pipe.

Detour routes (WDIV)

It’s part of the Great Lakes Water Authority’s effort to upgrade the water system after a main broke near M-5 on 14 Mile Road last fall.

These closures are expected to remain in place through late April 2026.

Drivers should plan alternate routes and expect delays during the closures.

While roads will reopen by April, the project is scheduled to wrap up with road restoration in June 2026.
