When is the snow expected to stop in Southeast Michigan today?

A 4Warn Weather Alert remains in effect this morning as widespread snow showers continue across Southeast Michigan, with snow expected to taper off by midday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 1 p.m., warning of 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation, especially between I-94 and I-69.

Detroit neurosurgeon murder case: What happened during first day of jury selection

The Detroit Field Office of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Jury selection began Tuesday in the case against Desmond Burks, the man accused of killing prominent Detroit neurosurgeon Dr. Devon Hoover.

Desmond Burks, 35, seen wearing a navy sweater and glasses Tuesday, is accused of murdering Hoover, 53, in April 2023 -- a case prosecutors said was carefully planned and driven by jealousy and money.

Before about 120 potential jurors filled Judge Paul J. Cusick’s Wayne County Third Circuit Courtroom, two potential jurors were almost immediately dismissed.

3-year-old injured after accidental shooting in Warren

A 3-year-old is injured after an accidental shooting in Warren Tuesday night.

According to Warren police, the 3-year-old accidentally shot themselves with a gun at an apartment complex on 10 Mile and Hoover at around 11 p.m. on Jan. 20.

Parents call for more safety resources after ‘near miss’ at Ann Arbor elementary school

Ann Arbor parents are calling for more resources to be devoted to security at an elementary school and across the district, after what they are calling a “near miss” on Friday.

“It was a very close thing to a tragedy, and thankfully it was not,” Haisley Elementary School dad Danny Ellis said.

That afternoon, kids and staff at Haisley Elementary School were getting ready to go home for a long weekend.

Weather: Blanket of snow brings tricky travel to Wednesday morning commute in Metro Detroit

A 4Warn Weather Alert remains in effect this morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 1PM for all of Southeast Michigan.

Give yourself extra time for your morning commute as widespread snow showers will drape the area leading to lower visibility and slick conditions.
