Cold Weather Advisory issued for Metro Detroit beginning Friday (WDIV)

It’s expected to be extremely cold beginning Friday morning in Metro Detroit.

The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for 1 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, for dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero.

--> A 4Warn Weather Alert has been issued for Friday, Saturday in Metro Detroit -- Here’s why

Even without the wind chill, temperatures on Saturday morning could be the coldest we have experienced in seven years. Make sure to bring pets inside and limit your time outside due to the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.

Weekend snow chances

The weekend winter storm to our south could track a little farther north and clip a portion of Southeast Michigan. We are actively monitoring the track of that system. It’s premature to lock into snow totals, but snow will be likely Sunday. We remain well below average through the first half of next week.
