Multiple agencies responded to standoff

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A Roseville police officer was shot while responding to a domestic disturbance and is currently in stable condition at a local hospital.

On Friday, Jan. 23, officers arrived at a home on the 26000 block of Kathy Street after receiving reports that a 30-year-old Roseville man might be arming himself with a weapon.

When officers arrived, they were met with gunfire from an assault rifle fired through a closed window inside the residence.

They returned fire, hitting the suspect and stopping the shooting.

Neighbors described the scene as chaotic and unusual for the normally quiet area.

One neighbor said, “It was large, it was a large caliber gun because it woke me up like somebody was banging on my door.”

During the exchange, a Roseville officer was wounded and taken to the hospital, where he is now recovering.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene and used armored vehicles to approach the home and attempt to negotiate the suspect’s surrender.

Eventually, the 30-year-old exited the home and was taken into custody without further incident before being taken to the hospital under police guard.
