State Senator Kevin Hertel, author of bill, joins Local 4

A new session is in full swing in Lansing, as some lawmakers are looking to help Michiganders.

A new bill is making its way through the legislature aimed at tackling soaring utility costs. The bill would lock in rates for multiple years, giving homeowners more predictability.

It also pushes utility companies to plan better, cut costs and improve efficiency.

The author of that bill, State Senator Kevin Hertel, who serves the 12th district in St. Clair Shores, joined Local 4 Live to explain the bill further. You can watch the full interview at the beginning of this article.
