Michigan football adds another former Ohio State coach with special teams hire

He lettered three years at quarterback, winning 30 games as a collegiate player.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Michigan Wolverines have added another former Ohio State coach, with head coach Kyle Whittingham adding to his special teams unit.

According to Yahoo Sports, Brian Knorr will join the special teams department alongside Kerry Coombs, both former Ohio State staff members.

Knoor coached with the Buckeyes during the 2016 season as a special teams coordinator before joining the Arizona coaching staff in 2017.

He later joined the Air Force Academy as an assistant head coach and inside linebackers coach from 2018 to 2021 before being promoted to defensive coordinator for the 2022 to 2025 seasons.

Knorr graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1986 with a degree in management.

He lettered three years at quarterback, winning 30 games as a collegiate player.

Knorr was an inside linebackers coach for the Ohio Bobcats football program from 1995 to 1998, before serving as defensive coordinator from 1999 to 2000.

He served as head coach from 2001 to 2004.
