Michigan lawmakers propose bill after Local 4 investigation into auto insurance claim denials

Michigan lawmakers are proposing new legislation in response to a series of Local 4 investigations that pulled back the curtain on how some Michigan families’ car insurance claims are getting denied and their coverage canceled because they didn’t list their kids, who don’t drive, on their policy.

Last week, State Sen. Mallory McMorrow introduced Senate Bill 782.

The bill seeks to prohibit auto insurers from requiring people to list every family member and instead require them to list only people who drive.

Former Michigan football HC Sherrone Moore returns to court for hearing on request to dismiss charges

Former Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore is scheduled to appear in a Washtenaw County courtroom for a hearing on his attorneys’ request to dismiss charges against him.

Moore’s defense argues that the arrest warrant was issued based on false and misleading statements.

His attorneys have filed a motion to quash the warrant and dismiss the complaint, asserting that the truth will emerge at trial.

A Michigan couple says their February social security money wasn’t What was billed as a neighborhood introductory meeting about a proposed high-end event center felt to some residents more like a done deal.

Ellen Reid said she first learned about Bloomfield Hollows from a postcard.

Brett Northcutt said his family’s postcard arrived only a few weeks ago, after they had already read about the project in the media.

“We could have between 700 and 1,000 people showing up every single day,” Northcutt said.

Weather: Widespread fog in Metro Detroit Tuesday morning, rain showers expected in the evening

Dense fog is much more widespread this morning as visibility has fallen to zero miles in many locations. The Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St. Clair, and Tuscola counties until 10AM.

Mild temperatures will persist today with highs in the upper 40s ahead of spring-like showers. The next round of precipitation is on schedule for tonight and Wednesday morning. All rain is expected for us with wintry precipitation in northern Lower Michigan where Winter Weather Advisories go into effect at midnight tonight.
