Go 4 It: Help us gather supplies for animals at Metro Detroit shelter

Our next Go 4 It event aims to help animals at a Metro Detroit shelter by collecting needed supplies.

Local 4 is partnering with the Michigan Animal Rescue League, one of longest-serving shelters in Southeast Michigan.

MARL has been in operation since 1953 and aims to provide “the highest quality of life to dogs and cats through rescue, medical care, socialization and behavioral support, short- and long-term sanctuary, adoption, and community education and outreach.”

If you want to join us, we’ll be at the Michigan Animal Rescue League -- 340 Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard North in Pontiac -- from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 25, 2026.

Man held on $3M bond after allegedly targeting former employer in West Bloomfield shootings

A 76-year-old man from West Bloomfield is being held on a $3 million bond after two shootings.

Prosecutors said 76-year-old Fawzi George Kased targeted his former employer, Maple View Liquor, before a pair of shootings that left a liquor store worker and a woman from a nearby apartment complex hospitalized.

It happened Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Thornberry Apartment complex, located near Maple and Farmington roads, and at the Maple View Liquor Store.

Police said they received a 911 call just before 9 a.m. from a Thornberry Apartments resident, who said another resident had attempted to “force their way into their apartment with an object that looked like a stick.”

Water main break in Macomb County leads to boil water advisories

Some communities in Macomb County are dealing with a boil water notice Wednesday morning following the break on a 36-inch water main.

Officials said a DTE subcontractor struck the water transmission main owned by the Great Lakes Water Authority in Chesterfield Township.

According to one of the communities affected by the water main break, it’s not clear when the repairs will happen.

On Feb. 25, GLWA reported its investigating a leak on the 36-inch water transmission line near Gratiot and 24 Mile Road.

Detroit Pistons host Thunder in battle of No. 1 seeds at Little Caesars Arena

The Detroit Pistons have ascended to the top of the Eastern Conference this season, owning a 28-7 record against the rest of the conference.

Detroit swept their three games vs. the New York Knicks and went 3-1 against the Boston Celtics, the two teams behind them in the conference standings.

This week, the Pistons face a new test as they take on the two best teams in the Western Conference.

After playing against the Spurs on Monday, the Pistons are set for a showdown with the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday (Feb. 25), a matchup of the two best teams in the NBA.
