WARREN, Mich. – A 42-year-old woman is facing charges in Macomb County after reportedly selling the home of a vulnerable adult who was in an assisted living facility.

His family was appointed legal guardians to manage his affairs and he was moved to an assisted living facility, where he died in 2025.

After the man had died, his family reportedly found that his home had been sold after Crawford allegedly forged a quitclaim deed transferring the property to herself, recorded the deed with the Macomb County Register of Deeds, and sold the property while representing herself as the owner.

Crawford was charged Thursday, Feb. 27, with embezzlement from a vulnerable adult - $100,000 or more, false pretenses $100,000 or more, forgery of document affecting real property and uttering and publishing a document affecting real property.

All four charges are felonies.

Crawford’s bond was set at $25,000 and her probable cause conference has been scheduled for March 9.
