Convicted felons could soon get federal gun rights back. Here’s why one Michigan man plans to apply

Convicted felons could get their federal gun rights back in just a few weeks.

One man previously convicted in Metro Detroit hopes a proposed Department of Justice program comes to fruition.

Local 4 first found out about Terrance Caren’s story from his attorney, Barton Morris, in Troy.

“Terry hasn’t had a criminal offense, I believe, since 2002,” Morris, the principal attorney at the Law Offices of Barton Morris and the Founder of armedagain.com , said. “Prior to that, he was a different person. It was over 20 years ago, he had an assault offense and a number of nonviolent felony offenses. Now, he hasn’t caused any trouble, not so much as a traffic ticket.”

Detroit father charged with abandoning 13-month-old son in impounded vehicle

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Orlander Murnell Linson Jr., 35, of Detroit, in connection with abandoning his 13-month-old son in a vehicle that was later found at an impound lot.

Prosecutors said Linson left the child inside a vehicle on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, at approximately 3:30 a.m. in front of a residence in the 20600 block of Damman Street.

18-year-old accused of murdering Wayne County woman found dead behind laundromat pleads guilty

An 18-year-old charged in connection with the murder of a Taylor woman who was found dead in June has pleaded guilty to one charge.

Christina Hayes, 28, was found dead behind a laundromat in the 17600 block of Woodward Avenue on June 21, 2025, at around 3 p.m. with injuries to her face and neck.

Oakland County man arrested after several license plate cameras ‘smashed to pieces’

A Clarkston man is facing felony charges after allegedly smashing several license plate cameras to pieces.

Spencer Anderson, 24, of Clarkston, was charged with three counts of malicious destruction of police property.

Waterford police learned on Feb. 23 that their Automatic License Plate Readers within the township were no longer active. Officers discovered that the license plate readers were forcibly broken from their mounts and “smashed to pieces.”
