Detroit woman seeks help as alley fills with trash; city says homeowners responsible but plans cleanup

A Detroit woman says the alley behind her home is swamped with trash and debris. The city says alleys are technically homeowners’ responsibility, but they are still putting a plan in place to help get the block cleaned up.

Kellisha Davis lives on Greensboro Street, southwest of Harper Woods. She reached out to Local 4 to get help with the alley behind her home.

“They are giving us tickets,” Davis said. “We came back here and cleaned up, we did what we can, but I am really trying for the neighbors who can’t get back here.”

Auburn Hills manufactured home residents hit with $10k shared monthly water bills

An Auburn Hills manufactured home community says they’re suddenly stuck with two water bills. In addition to their personal water bill, they are being charged for a community water bill over $10,000 that they believe is due to leaks.

Residents at Oakland Estates in Auburn Hills reached out to Local 4 after reporter Kyla Russell published several stories plaguing manufactured home communities.

Phil Harrison showed Local 4 a water leak on the edge of the community that he says has been running all winter.

Pilot and copilot killed in collision between jet and fire truck at New York’s LaGuardia Airport

Two people were killed and several others badly hurt when an Air Canada regional jet struck a fire truck on a runway while landing at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, officials said.

The pilot and copilot were killed in the late Sunday night collision, which crushed the nose of the aircraft, while around 40 passengers and crew members were taken to area hospitals, some with serious injuries. Most have since been released from treatment, authorities said Monday.

High pressure eventually builds over the central Great Lakes by this evening which will allow winds to taper off tonight.
