Witness no-show leads to case dismissal in shooting

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Charges against a 23-year-old man in a Macomb County house party shooting have been dismissed, prosecutors confirmed.

The shooting happened Jan. 10 at a house party in Sterling Heights.

According to authorities, there was a fight inside the home that escalated into the suspect opening fire on the home from the driveway. A guest returned fire, hitting the suspected gunman.

In total, four people were shot, but no injuries were life-threatening.

A 23-year-old man was charged with three counts of attempted murder and carrying a concealed weapon.

On March 23, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office announced charges against the suspect were dismissed due to a witness not showing up at court.

For the case to move forward, the prosecutor’s office would need to reauthorize charges against the man.
