DETROIT – DTE Energy said a billing issue affecting many customers has been fixed, and explained what it could mean for next month’s bill.
The Michigan Public Service Commission confirmed to Local 4 that it contacted DTE after thousands of customers reported billing issues.

DTE Energy told MPSC that the issue has been fixed and affected customers are being told that their payment didn’t work.
Some customers might see a higher bill next month if they didn’t take action and the original payment didn’t go through.
This comes as many DTE customers switch to bank withdrawal payments because of a new credit card processing fee.

The MPSC is aware of the issue and has been in contact with DTE about it. DTE told the MPSC that the company has fixed the issue and is notifying affected customers that their payment didn’t go though. Some customers who didn’t take action may see a higher bill next month because the original payment didn’t go through.
