ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. – A man was found dead in his home in St. Clair County on Thursday after a fire.
Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 2600 block of 24th Street in Port Huron Township on March 26 for a welfare check after a man did not show up to work.

When the deputies arrived, no one answered the door, but it appeared someone was home. Deputies then forced entry and learned there were signs that there had been a fire in the home, specifically in the kitchen and living room.
The sheriff’s office said a 61-year-old man was then found dead in the home. No foul play was suspected.
