Trump administration sues Washtenaw County over ICE non-cooperation

The Trump administration filed a federal lawsuit against Washtenaw County, accusing county officials of deliberately obstructing federal immigration enforcement in violation of the U.S. Constitution’s Supremacy Clause.

The complaint, filed on Wednesday, April 9, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, named the county, Sheriff Alyshia M. Dyer, Prosecuting Attorney Eli Savit, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, and the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners as defendants.

Woman killed in crash involving suspected drunk driver in Macomb County

A woman was killed in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver in Macomb County Thursday night.

The crash happened on southbound Groesbeck Highway, just south of Martin Road, at around 9:30 p.m. on April 9.

‘I don’t see any new faces’: Rochester Road construction changes daily life for small businesses in Troy

Some businesses along Rochester Road in Troy say ongoing roadwork is cutting into their bottom line.

Construction to widen Rochester Road into a six-lane corridor began late last year and has been underway for months, according to the city of Troy’s website.

While business owners said they understand the need for the project, they also noted it’s creating day-to-day challenges.

‘This can’t happen again’: Parents demand road repairs after Huron Township school bus crash

Huron Township parents are demanding action after a crash Thursday morning sent a school bus sliding into a ditch, and police said the driver was trying to avoid potholes.

The crash happened around 8:36 a.m. near Clark and Judd roads, according to the Huron Township Director of Public Safety Everette Robbins.

Robbins said the driver was driving on the right side of the road to avoid the potholes when the road surface collapsed.
