VIDEO: Man thwarts would-be robber at California Starbucks, gets stabbed in the scuffle

A masked, would-be robber got more than he bargained for at a California Starbucks last week when he was thwarted by a bystander. Security video captured the incident.

58-year-old Cregg Jerri is seen sitting at a table, working on his iPad. Suddenly, a man in an Optimus Prime Transformers mask holding a yellow bag enters and rushes to the register. The masked man threatens the clerk with a fake gun and pulls out a buck knife as he demands money. Jerri gets up and grabs a chair. He approaches the suspect from behind and smashes the chair on his back, knocking the mask off. A fight ensues that appears to show Jerri getting the upper hand.

According to KSEE, the would-be robber fled the store, but was later arrested. He was identified as 30-year-old Ryan Michael Flores.

Investigators said that Jerri managed to wrestle the knife away from Flores and stab him several times. Flores was sent to the hospital in critical, but stable condition. Fresno police said once he exits the hospital, he'll be headed straight to jail.

Police said Jerri suffered a stab wound to the neck in the scuffle. He was sent to the hospital and needed six staples. He is expected to make a full recovery.
