No one hurt in fire at Westland gas station

Fire official says mechanic dropped gas tank, spilling fuel

No one was hurt when a gas and service station in Westland caught fire on Monday.

Wayne-Westland Assistant Fire Chief John Adams said the fire started when a mechanic at the Citgo station at Middle Belt and Ann Arbor Trail roads dropped a gas tank.

The fuel that spilled, ignited.

Adams said the station suffered severe damage, but everyone was able to get out.

Adams said the fire is being ruled accidental.
