The Petoskey Area is a Michigan Treasure

Ready for a vacation with more to do than hit the beach? Then make plans this summer to visit what has been called a Michigan treasure: The Petoskey Area of northern Michigan.

Of course, the resort communities that make up the Petoskey Area have earned quite a reputation for beautiful beaches and spectacular lakeside settings. Whether you like strolling the soft sand looking for Petoskey stones, diving into crystal-clear Lake Charlevoix, or catching a Million Dollar Sunset over Lake Michigan, this is the place to be.

The stories you’ll share after visiting here will be filled with one “remember when” story after another.

What makes the Petoskey Area so much more than just another pretty place is all there is to do after the beach towel has been put away. Our resort communities of Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Bay Harbor, Alanson and Boyne City offer a whole vacation full of things to do.

Unique shopping

Be sure to explore our boutiques and galleries. The elegant Village at Bay Harbor, Petoskey’s famous Gaslight District, and the downtown areas of Harbor Springs and Boyne City are lined with dozens of inviting shops.

Victorian charm

Our historic districts offer a wealth of treasures from yesteryear. The Bay View area alone has nearly 500 Victorian structures that have earned it a designation as a National Historic Landmark.

Hiking & Biking

Our lakeside communities are surrounded by some of the most beautiful hiking and biking trails imaginable. These trails lead though magnificent forests, and along the shores of inland lakes and crystal-clear rivers and streams. Wildlife abounds, and with every crest of a hill another awesome vista arises.

World-class golf

You’ll remember our courses long after forgetting your scores. We have more than a dozen courses from nationally rated to economical, including the 2019 National Golf Course of the Year, The Heather. And the quality of those courses is often written about by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest.

Wonderful dining

Whatever you have a taste for, you’ll find it here. Perhaps it’s one of our fine gourmet restaurants.  Maybe it’s one with a more casual, easy-going style. For a truly memorable experience, head out on our culinary trail. It has 38 markets, boutique food shops, wineries and breweries.

Wineries

Small, but with a lot of heart and personality, may best describe our wineries. Twelve locations combine to create the Petoskey Wine Region, part of Michigan’s newest AVA. Sip, sample, and maybe take in a Wine & Paint session amongst the beautiful scenery.

Culture

Great Lakes Center for the Arts is located on the shores of Lake Michigan in Bay Harbor, Michigan. It features world-class performances in a variety of genres with virtually limitless possibilities to inspire, entertain and educate.

Choose from quaint country inns, luxurious condominiums and modern full-service hotels. Whatever your preference, you can count on your accommodations being everything you hoped for.
