Decathlete Ashton Eaton and heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill topped the inaugural Sports Illustrated Fittest 50 list.
Eaton, the decathlon world-record holder, won the 2012 Olympic decathlon gold medal. He was also the decathlon world champion in 2013 and 2015.

Ennis-Hill, the 2012 Olympic heptathlon champion, gave birth to her son, Reggie on July 17, 2014. Just over a year later, she won her second heptathlon world championship.
Athletes were judged by a panel of six judges based on six criteria: strength, speed, endurance, agility, flexibility and skill.
One of the six judges, Harry Marra, has coached Eaton since 2009. Eaton’s wife, Brianne Theisen-Eaton, also made the list.
