Metro Detroit hurdler shows off Olympic swag

CANTON, Mich. – Jeff Porter is heading to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to compete in the men's 110m hurdles for Team USA.   He shared with Local 4 some of the gear Olympic athletes receive to help them prepare for their time at the Summer Games.

Athletes receive gear from both Nike and Ralph Lauren.    The clothing includes outfits for the Opening and Closing ceremonies, race gear including running spikes and lounge clothes for athletes to wear around the Olympic village.

Porter, lives in Canton and attended the University of Michigan.  He is currently getting his PhD at Eastern Michigan University.

This is his second Olympics.  He competed in the 2012 London games. .

Porter's wife, Tiffany and his sister-in-law Cindy Ofili will also compete in the Olympics.  The sisters have qualified in the women's 100m hurdles for Great Britain.
