Wife accidentally throws Max Scherzer's 'dirty' no-hitter jersey in trash

Scherzer responds by throwing purses in trash

DETROIT – Someone in the Scherzer household is in the doghouse, and it's not the $210 million pitcher.

Former Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Max Scherzer took to Twitter Wednesday after his wife threw his Washington Nationals jersey from his second no hitter in the trash at their home.

"Wife was cleaning up the house and threw away a "dirty" Jersey... It was the 2nd No Hitter Jersey!" Scherzer tweeted.

I mean, it could be worse, right? At least she didn't throw the first no-hitter jersey in the trash. Once players start throwing multiple no-hitters, it probably gets kind of hard to keep track of which jerseys are special and which ones are draped over the chair, because Scherzer was too tired to change in the clubhouse

And it's not like the jersey went out to the side of the road. Heck, it's barely in the trash can. It even looked like she wasn't fully committed to throwing it out.

Maybe it's time to spend some of that $210 million on a display case to avoid further confusion.

Erica May-Scherzer admitted it was a "major wife fail moment."

But Scherzer couldn't leave it at that. Nope, her admittance of guilt wasn't enough. He had to get his revenge, so he went for the purses.

Talk about fighting fire with fire.

Were they game-used purses? Or even part of the regular purse rotation? Scherzer's wife didn't respond publicly, so it's possible the retaliation didn't go over so well.

Maybe they'll be taking turns sleeping on the couch.
