Tennessee football coaching search: Latest updates, rumors on search for head coach

Volunteers searching for new head coach after firing Butch Jones

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee is searching for a new head football coach after firing Butch Jones before the end of the 2017 season.

Assistant Brady Hoke finished the season as the interim head coach, but the Volunteers are still searching for Jones' permanent replacement.

It's been a volatile search so far, with fan outrage nixing the reported deal with Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano. Several candidates have also reported turned down the job, including Duke's David Cutcliffe and N.C. State's Dave Doeren.
