With the Malik Beasley news breaking, Detroit found an excellent replacement in Robinson, who is an exceptional shooter.
The 31-year-old went from being undrafted in 2018 to adapting to Heat Culture while becoming a franchise leader in career three-pointers made with 1,202 while shooting 39.5% from deep during his seven years with the franchise.
Robinson became one of nine players to make more than 1,000 three-pointers while shooting 39% from beyond the arc during those seven seasons.
The former Michigan Man averaged 11 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists while shooting 43.7% from the field and 39.3% from three during the 2024-25 season.
Robinson appeared in 115 career games for the University of Michigan, never missing a single game in three seasons with the Wolverines.
Including his final nine games at Williams College, Robinson played in 124 consecutive games.
Robinson is the 68th Wolverine to play more than 100 career games and ranks tied for 36th all-time in Michigan history for career games played.
He scored 1,072 career points at Michigan, ranking 47th all-time. He became the 53rd Wolverine to surpass 1,000 points, reaching the milestone with 16 points, including four three-pointers, against Nebraska on March 2 in the Big Ten Tournament.
Combining his collegiate totals from Michigan and Williams College, he amassed 1,620 career points.
Robinson ranks fourth on Michigan’s all-time list for three-point field goals with 237, becoming the ninth Wolverine to record more than 200 in a career.
He is eighth on the school’s all-time list for three-point shooting percentage at 41.94% and ninth for three-point attempts with 565.
Robinson helped Michigan reach three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 2016 to 2018.
The men’s basketball team played in the program’s first-ever First Four game in 2016, advancing to the first round of the tournament.
Michigan then reached the Sweet 16 in 2017 and 2018, the Elite Eight in 2018, and the Final Four and national title game in 2018.
Robinson also contributed to back-to-back Big Ten Tournament championships.
In 2017, Michigan won four games in four days in Washington, D.C., overcoming a pre-tournament plane accident.
The following year, the Wolverines won four games in four days in New York to secure their second straight title.
Robinson’s career honors and awards include Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year (2018), Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree (2018), Academic All-Big Ten (2018), Michigan captain (2017-18), and multiple team awards for leadership, sportsmanship, sixth man, and free throw shooting.
