Michigan State University alumni Jase Richardson, Jaden Akins and Marcus Bingham Jr. will play for the Orlando Magic as part of the 2025 NBA Summer League.
The Magic selected Richardson as the only MSU player selected in the 2025 NBA Draft, going No. 25 overall.

Jase, who is the son of two-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner Jason Richardson, was named to the Big Ten’s All-Freshman Team and Third-Team All-Conference after averaging 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists per game on 49% shooting from the field and 41% from 3-point range.
Richardson has a silky-smooth jumper and the ability to get a bucket one-on-one. His patience, pace and craftiness exceeds his years and are key reasons why he was a first-round pick.
With Richardson being a first-round selection, he is guaranteed to sign a contract as part of the Orlando Magic’s roster.
Akins went undrafted in the latest draft and joined the Magic’s Summer League team in an effort to make an NBA roster.
Akins played at MSU from 2021 to 2025. He averaged 13 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist on 40% shooting during his senior year at MSU. Akins flashed NBA-level athleticism and potential as he led MSU to a Big Ten title and a 2025 Elite Eight appearance.
Akins’ high potential is what intrigues NBA teams about him. If Akins can string together some hot shooting performances during Summer League, he could very well find himself on an NBA roster.
Bingham Jr. played at MSU from 2018 to 2022. He averaged 9 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks per game during his senior year.
Bingham Jr. then moved to Israel in 2023 to play for the Hapoel Haifa. At the start of the 2024-2025 season he signed with Hapoel Holon. In November 2024, he signed with Hapoel Tel Aviv and would go on to win the 2025 EuroCup.
Bingham Jr. averaged 11 points, 5 rebounds and 1 block per game on 63% shooting from the field and 46% from three-point range during the 2024-2025 international season.
Bingham Jr. went overseas and achieved success while also gaining valuable experience that he can showcase during Summer League. As a true 7-footer with a reliable three-point shot, Bingham Jr. could fit the mold as a versatile big man that is desired by teams in the NBA.
MSU alum Frankie Fidler went undrafted in the most recent draft and joined the Milwaukee Bucks’ Summer League roster.
Fidler flashed great scoring potential during his junior season with the Omaha Mavericks, averaging 20 points, 3 assists and 6 rebounds on 45% shooting from the field and 36% three-point shooting.
Fidler’s scoring dropped off when he transferred to MSU for his senior season, averaging 7 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist per game on 39% shooting from the field and 20% shooting from three-point range.
Fidler likely experienced a drop-off in scoring due to being in a brand new system during his senior season. If Fidler can recapture the level of scoring he displayed at Omaha, he could make an NBA roster.
NBA Summer League takes place from July 10 through July 18 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
