Malloy had been removed from the 40-man roster to make room for Kyle Finnegan, who the Tigers re-signed in free agency last month.

Malloy, who will turn 26 in February, played in 52 games for the Tigers last season, slashing .221/.346/.308 with six doubles, one homer, 20 walks, and 32 strikeouts.

He has a career .884 OPS in the minor leagues, including a .416 on-base percentage and 61 homers.

The Tigers acquired Malloy in December 2022 as the centerpiece of the Joe Jimenez trade.
