“I am retiring from sports radio but I am not retiring from life,” Foster said. “It is time for me to move on to a more low-key career.

Foster suffered a stroke last year, causing him to miss several months.

Valenti took to the air alone on Thursday to talk about Foster's retirement. Valenti talked about the 13 years he and Foster spent on the air.

Valenti explained that Foster didn't want a retirement show. "He just felt that it would be too much emotionally."

"It took.. it really took a toll on him. He'll tell you that. He'd go home at night and he was done."

"This was the time, this was the decision," said Valenti.

Valenti did say that Foster's seat would remain empty for a while. "I don't even want to think about anything. I need to figure out what I'm going to be without him. Where does our show go. That's his chair. We'll figure it out," said Valenti.
