EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Detroit Lions picked up their first road victory Sunday by beating the New York Jets 24-17 in East Rutherford.

Detroit's top-ranked defense led the way, limiting the Jets to just three first-half points and forcing five straight three-and-outs before the break. With the Jets charging in the fourth quarter the defense forced two turnovers to cement the game.

Matthew Stafford threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a touchdown in the win. Calvin Johnson was limited in the contest and caught only two passes for 12 yards. Stafford looked to Golden Tate in Johnson's absence, and the first-year Lion grabbed eight passes for 116 yards.

Jeremy Ross and Eric Ebron each caught touchdown passes for Detroit. Ross's score came on a 59-yard pass, and Ebron's was the first of his career.

Reggie Bush led the Lions in rushing, picking up 46 yards on 12 carries. Joique Bell ran for 32 yards before being taken out of the game and evaluated for a concussion in the fourth quarter.

The Lions, at 3-1, are in first place in the NFC North, one game ahead of the Bears and Packers.

Detroit will welcome the Buffalo Bills to Ford Field next week searching for a third straight victory.
