As the definition of autism has widened, there’s a growing push to separate profound autism into its own diagnosis.

GARDEN CITY, Mich. – A man charged with attacking a woman while she brought dinner to her father at Garden City Hospital was sentenced Wednesday to a mental health care facility. John Deliz is accused of attacking Andrea Murphy, 45, in June. Police said Deliz was in a bed and had an IV in his arm when he got up and punched Murphy in the face.
