One woman has been sent to the hospital, and a Detroit firefighter has been placed on unpaid leave after a fire truck got into an accident Wednesday morning.

Detroit firefighters were recognized Friday for their quick thinking and teamwork in rescuing an elderly man from a house fire on the city’s west side.

Mayor Mike Duggan has appointed Chuck Simms as Detroit’s interim fire commissioner.
