Many people on the Big Island of Hawaii are bracing for major upheaval if lava from Mauna Loa volcano blocks the quickest route connecting two sides of the island.

Defense attorney Frank Manley said a jury on Wednesday found Dalibor Sakotic of Wylie, Texas, not guilty of manslaughter and reckless driving. The Associated Press left a message seeking comment from Genesee County prosecutors' spokesman John Potbury.
