The Trump family company wants to trademark the use of the president’s name on any airports but says it doesn’t plan on charging a fee — at least for a proposed renaming of one near his Florida home.

(CNN) - The Ohio State University is attempting to trademark the word "the," according to an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office. 88571984 was filed Thursday, and the school seeks to use the word "the" mainly on t-shirts, baseball caps and hats. "In order for a trademark to be registered for a brand of clothing, the trademark must be used in a trademark fashion. It officially became The Ohio State University in 1878.

The Ohio school has demanded in recent years that we call them "THE Ohio State University," but anyone outside of Columbus uses it to make fun of the school, of course. Gerben predicted on Tuesday that Ohio State was "likely to receive an initial refusal of the application." The Ohio State University has filed a trademark application on the word "THE."
