The principal of Bloomfield Hills High School has resigned following controversy that first had him placed him on leave last month.

The superintendent of Bloomfield Hills Schools will retire this summer after fewer than four years in the role, according to an announcement made Tuesday.

A student and their parents are suing the Bloomfield Hills School District for millions of dollars over alleged racial discrimination following a string of racist incidents reported at the high school.

The bell will be ringing a little later for some schools districts in southeast Michigan.
