A woman from Guatemala says she and her two U.S.-born children were held for nearly a week by customs agents in Detroit after a phone app’s directions to the nearest Costco led them to an international bridge connecting the city to Canada.

Two days after nonprofit groups sued the federal government over a stop-work order targeting programs that provide information and guidance to people facing deportation, the U.S. Justice Department reversed course and ordered that funding to the programs be restored.

“We’re here to say, not on our watch! We’re going to protect our neighbors,” U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., said as immigration advocates took to the streets of southwest Detroit on Wednesday.
