Lawsuit claims Sidetrack bar in Ypsilanti took tips from employees, made them work off the clock
YPSILANTI, MI — A recent lawsuit filed against Sidetrack Bar & Grill in Ypsilanti alleges that employees were required to work off the clock and lost out on tips they had earned. Employees were also denied overtime wages by having their hours shaved down and were required to work multiple hours past 2 a.m., according to the lawsuit. Employees were expected to cover the cost of walkouts, mis-rings or drawer shortages out of their tips of base wages, according to the lawsuit. Servers, bartenders and other tipped employees were required to come in early or stay late past their shifts and work “off the clock,” the lawsuit alleges. In some cases, servers worked up to 60 hours a week but were paid far fewer hours, according to the lawsuit.
