Sterling Heights teen saves choking mother with first aid skills

A Sterling Heights teenager, Drew Yakubesan, used his Boy Scouts first aid training to save his mother, Jennifer, from choking during a family dinner. Drew successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver and back blows to dislodge the obstruction, highlighting the critical role of first aid skills. Jennifer emphasized the life-saving importance of such training, urging others to learn basic first aid to prevent being bystanders in emergencies. The story promotes a free "First Aid Basics" class at the University of Michigan Dearborn, encouraging public participation.
