High school marketing class turns project into shoe donation drive
A business and marketing class at Grosse Pointe North High School, led by educator Scott Sowers, undertook a project to design shoe collections with themes such as NFL, NBA, and various cultural elements. The project, supported by a grant from the Grosse Pointe Foundation for Public Education, aimed to donate the shoes to Matrix Human Services, a nonprofit aiding children in need. Students learned about corporate social responsibility and the impact of their work, as expressed by student Steven SantaMarinaa and Matrix COO Nicole Pilgrim. The initiative highlighted the importance of providing new, well-fitting shoes to children and the potential for the project to become an annual event.
