University of Michigan study explores Mediterranean diet as IBS therapy

Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a condition that affects one in 10 people worldwide, causing chronic abdominal pain and bloating. Patients are typically advised to eat special diets. However, those can be expensive and difficult to follow — which is why University of Michigan researchers are studying alternatives. The Mediterranean diet is recognized worldwide as a healthier way of eating in general. Now, a researcher from the University of Michigan says the popular diet is also showing promise as a treatment for IBS.
