Innovative medical chair from MSU targets pressure injury prevention and nursing support

Two MSU engineering researchers, Tamara Reid Bush and Justin Scott, have developed the "Sit Sense" chair, designed to prevent pressure injuries in patients with limited mobility. Equipped with sensors, the chair automatically adjusts through 12 positions to alleviate pressure on different body parts, reducing the risk of bed sores. This innovation supports nurses, especially during a statewide shortage, by easing the repositioning of patients. The goal is to introduce the chair to hospitals and eventually create a wheelchair version for broader accessibility.
